Eventually we get up and have some breakfast.
Today we had some glorious french toast:
Made from these fine ingredients:
It was SO good, if I do say so myself. It was the first time I've tried this bread (made locally) & it was well worth the price. The nuts and grains added a nice texture, especially since I don't like soggy food. And the powdered sugar was perfection!
After breakfast Grace hung out in her chair & colored for a little bit while I cleaned up. Then we went into the living room to play. We pretty much play with whatever Grace is interested in at the moment. I try to "suggest" certain things by leaving them out, but it's completely up to her. She's really into jumping right now, so jumping on the couch is usually a big hit (she holds onto my hands so I can help her go extra high). I recently downloaded some children's music, so we often do some singing and dancing, too.
We're really, really slow & casual in the "morning". It's usually after 1 pm by the time we think about getting ready for the day. Grace enjoys taking showers, so luckily we just hop in the shower together. She has a bunch of toys and keeps herself entertained by filling cups with water & talking to her fishies. Eventually we get out, dry off, & get dressed. I usually give Grace a little something for lunch while I finish getting ready.
By the time 3 pm rolls around the dogs are usually ready to go out and Grace is sleepy for a nap. I pack Grace up in her carriage (along with some milk & snacks) & we take the dogs downstairs to the park. It's quite a site to see us all, but we've gotten much better at not looking super-crazy. Jack is really excited to go out, so he's pulling up front. Thundra is none-so-thrilled to have to walk "so far" to get outside and she's pulling behind. And there's Grace & I in the middle (Grace pretty much oblivious to it all, me with my arms stretched in all directions). We hang out in the park for a little bit & then I bring them back upstairs.
Today Grace fell asleep as soon as we got back into the condo.
(don't you just love her cupcake hat?!!!)
My plan is always to take a walk around this time of day, to either help her fall asleep or to use the time while she's sleeping to run errands in the neighborhood. And my ultimate goals is always to get some beautiful fresh air. The only thing I really needed to do today was drop a package off at the post office. That took about 5 minutes and Grace usually sleeps for about an hour. So I spent the rest of the time walking through the neighborhood, stopping in a few shops along the way.
Eventually I figured it was time to think about what to eat for supper. Being that I'd already cooked once today... and I'm not that great in the kitchen (lol)... I decided upon a local shop that serves some fantastic burgers & fries (and that's it... simple menu, good food):
Yup. I'll pay those prices for real, quality food! According to their website, here's what you get:
1/4 lb. of Cascade natural beef, local brioche buns, local cheeses, organic veggies and camdens' catsup. Oh, and their fries are made with truffle oil.
This is what Grace & I shared: a blue cheese burger with fries & a side of catsup.
Lol- Grace mostly ate the pickles from the burger (I hate pickle on or near my burgers) & some fries.
And for dessert:
A mini vanilla cupcake from Whole Foods. Grace calls the frosting "cake" & that's pretty much the only part she wants to eat. :-)
My husband (aka "daddy") came home "early" tonight- about 6pm, around the time we were finished with supper. So the rest of the night pretty much consisted of playing together and watching Finding Nemo.
All in all, another great day in the city. Love it!
Then God said, "I've given you
every sort of seed-bearing plant on Earth
And every kind of fruit-bearing tree,
given them to you for food.
To all animals and all birds,
everything that moves and breathes,
I give whatever grows out of the ground for food."
And there it was.
every sort of seed-bearing plant on Earth
And every kind of fruit-bearing tree,
given them to you for food.
To all animals and all birds,
everything that moves and breathes,
I give whatever grows out of the ground for food."
And there it was.
