Black & White

I used to be such a black and white thinker.  It was either A or it was Z.  I never considered that there may be 24 other possible options in between.

At first it never dawned on me that a gray area existed.  Then once I started to awaken, there were many times that I didn't wanted to consider those other possibilities because it was too much work or too overwhelming.  Sometimes I still feel that way, but I try not to let it stop me.

So in thinking more about my last post, I can truly relate to the people that I am unintentionally pissing off.  I am rocking their foundation.  And that's scary.  But standing on other side of the mountain, so to speak, I want to gently encourage others to begin (or restart, or continue) the journey.  The road is a long one, but the trek is so amazing.  It's totally worth every ounce of effort.  I promise.  (And then we can continue on the journey together.  That would be nice, because I still have a long way to go.)

Awakening
by Switchfoot
(lyrics by Jon Foreman)

Face down with the L.A. curbside endings
In ones and zeros
Downtown was the perfect place to hide

The first star that I saw last night
Was a headlight of a man-made sky
But man-made never made our dreams collide, collide

Here we are now with the falling sky and the rain
We're awakening
Here we are now with the desperate youth and pain
We're awakening

Maybe it's called ambition
You've been talking in your sleep about a dream
We're awakening

Last week saw me living for nothing but deadlines
With my dead beat sky
But this town doesn't look the same tonight

These dreams started singing to me out of nowhere
And all my life I don't know
That I've ever felt so alive, alive

Here we are now with the falling sky and the rain
We're awakening
Here we are now with the desperate youth and pain
We're awakening

Maybe it's called ambition
You've been talking in your sleep about a dream
We're awakening

I wanna wake up kicking and screaming
I wanna wake up kicking and screaming
I wanna know that my heart's still beating
It's beating, I'm bleeding

I wanna wake up kicking and screaming
I wanna live like I know what I'm leaving
I wanna know that my heart's still beating
It's beating, it's beating, it's beating, I'm bleeding

Here we are now with the falling sky and the rain
We're awakening
Here we are now with the desperate youth and pain
We're awakening

Maybe it's called ambition
But you've been talk, talking in your sleep about a dream
We're awakening
Dream, we're awakening

On a side note, or maybe it's completely relevant, I used to dress in black almost all the time.  And everything I wore had to match ever so perfectly.  This past year, as I have been on my journey, I have also started to wear color and different color combinations that I used to think never matched.  Coincidence?  Hmmm.....    :-)

but will not overcome you,
for I am with you
and will rescue you,"
