Our original place was an amazing furnished condo in a fantastic neighborhood in the heart of the city. We were blessed with a super landlord, quiet building, & nice neighbors. So once we decided to permanently put down roots in our beloved city, we shipped all of our "stuff" out here and it sat in storage for a few months while we looked for the perfect non-furnished place to rent.
The search was pretty stressful. I stalked the craigslist "for rent" section day and night. I sent tons of emails to tons of landlords. It was a tough search because we have 2 dogs & (understandably) not a lot of people want to rent to a family with pets. And since our search was narrowly focused on our section of the city, I wondered if we'd ever find the "right" place or if we'd have to settle for something else. I worried & I prayed. And I prayed some more (see some of my favorites scripture verses below).
After what felt like forever, we finally landed a sweet townhouse on the next block over. The square footage is actually a bit smaller than our original condo (which was smaller than our home), but we also have a private garage with an attached basement area, so we really seem to have the perfect amount of space. There's a lot of natural light that comes through a bunch of huge windows. And there are TWO bathrooms! We've never had a place with 2 bathrooms! Upstairs is a bedroom & bathroom that we share with Grace. And the main floor has a kitchen/dining/living room combo, a bathroom, & a bedroom that we use as Grace's play room/ our office.
I love it here. It feels like home. We still have a lot of boxes in the basement to look through & haven't hung up anything on the walls, but I'm comfortable here. I thought I'd miss our old place a lot, but I really don't. I will certainly always have awesome memories from there & will always be grateful to have lived there, but I don't have an ache in my heart that I wish I could go back. It's the same way with our home that we left. We have a ton of great memories from there, but I have no desire to go back to it.
I think I'll set a goal to get through all the boxes & get everything settled in by the end of the year. We'll see how that goes...

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of it's own."
(Matthew 6:34)
"Ask and it will be given to you;
seek and you will find;
know and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives:
the one who seeks finds;
and the one who knocks, the door will be opened."
(Matthew 7: 7-8)
"Humble yourselves, therefore,
under God's mighty hand,
that he may lift you up in due time.
Cast all your anxiety on him
because he cares for you."
(1 Peter 5:6-7)
