When I tell people that I moved across the country, they are naturally curious. Why? How? What are you going to do? So it only seemed fitting to start my blog with our story.
Our move came as a pleasant surprise. It's something we always dreamed of, but never thought it would actually be possible to make it happen. It was kind of an accident how it started (although I believe God is always in charge, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't really an accident). I was advertising an apartment on Craigslist and I got a reply from a wonderful graduate student. She was looking for a house with specific criteria. My apartment didn't meet these needs, however for some reason I told her that my current home would probably be perfect for her situation. Next thing we know, we are showing the house to her & her husband and soon after we are signing a 1 year lease for them to rent it out.
The lease was due to begin in 4 months, which we figured was plenty of time to decide where we'd live. But as the days & weeks passed we really couldn't find anything local that we liked or that met our needs. So once again, Craigslist (aka God?) brought us another blessing. We found an amazing fully furnished condo in our favorite area of our favorite city. All utilities were included, pets were accepted, and the landlord wanted to rent it to us. Exciting!
So we took a leap of faith. My husband left his full time job & drove across the country with our 2 dogs. I flew to our new city with our daughter.
It has been an exciting few weeks. I've got a lot of stories to tell you already. But for now I'm off to relax before bed.
